Celebrating our fifteenth year in 2009

Berlin, Wien, Zürich
June 21 to July 3

The fifteenth Sommer in Sewanee program will take place from June 21 to July 3, 2009 at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Sommer in Sewanee is an exciting opportunity to enhance knowledge of the culture in the German-speaking countries through small group instruction, lecture, film, and discussion. As a full immersion seminar Sommer in Sewanee offers four transferable Sewanee credits to high school teachers, graduate, undergraduate and qualified high school students of German.

The cultural topic for 2009, “Stadtspaziergänge”, explores the city culture in three German-speaking countries with presentations by guest speakers, film screenings, and small group discussions. Participants will have the opportunity to develop classroom materials and practice their language skills in a full immersion environment. Additional language courses are offered on the intermediate and advanced level. Click here to see the full schedule of events

The 2009 seminar will be offered by Roland Fischer of the University Linz, Austria, Margaret McCarthy of Davidson College and Reinhard Zachau of the University of the South.
